Former Nevada senate candidate Sharron Angle has made her first endorsement of the 2012 campaign season, throwing her support behind Richard Mourdock, who is mounting a primary challenge to Senator Dick Lugar of Indiana.

“Guts — that’s what my friend Richard Mourdock has in spades for putting it all on the line to primary Indiana Senator Dick Lugar (R – In Name Only),” Angle emailed supporters on Friday.

In the email, Angle attacks Lugar as a “career politician” and notes that he “recently told the Tea Party to ‘Get real.’”

Mourdock, on the other hand, she touts as a “proven fiscal and social conservative who I trust to join our allies Marco Rubio and Jim DeMint in the U.S. Senate.”

She notes that Mark Levin, Erick Erickson, and many of the GOP county chairs in Indiana have also endorsed Mourdock.

Angle herself has not yet announced whether or not she will run in 2012, but she briefly flirted with a run in the special election in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District before dropping out.
