Though President Obama has emphasized his openness to changing America’s policies towards Cuba, Fidel Castro feels differently.
CBS reported Thursday that the former Cuban dictator sarcastically wrote “How kind! How intelligent!” upon hearing this statement, and noted that despite Obama’s announcement, the U.S. has not yet ended its 50 year economic embargo against the communist island nation.
Castro added that Obama was “stupid” and that “perhaps [the U.S.] empire will fall first.” The comments were published in an article published Thursday in state media.

Earlier this week, Castro called Obama’s U.N. general assembly address “gibberish.”
