The billionaire co-founder of Home Depot who was unsuccessful in pushing New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to run for president will now back Mitt Romney, The Daily Caller has learned.

A Romney aide on Tuesday told TheDC that the former Massachusetts governor now has the support of Kenneth Langone, who this summer was one of several major GOP donors pleading with Christie to get in the race. (RELATED: Christie rules out run for president)

Langone’s support signifies that big GOP donors who have stayed on the sidelines in the race so far may ultimately end up on team Romney.

In a much-publicized New Jersey news conference on Tuesday, Gov. Christie announced that he is not running for president.
