Boy, he looked different back then, huh? Reminds me of somebody, but I can’t quite place it…

By the time Steve Jobs died, Apple was cranking out pocket-sized devices dwarfing that boxy relic in computing power, utterly changing the way we live. But that cumbersome block of plastic was a revolution back in ’84. It’s amazing how quickly we can take these innovations for granted. As if it’s just the natural order of things, rather than the result of an awful lot of hard work and brainpower and risk-taking. Just look at these “anti-corporate” doofs, recording themselves caterwauling in the streets about the evils of capitalism and sending it out to the world… from their iPhones.

They won’t thank you, Steve, but I will. Thanks for being an unrepentant capitalist, thereby changing the world. A corporation is the name we give to the things we choose to do together… with our own money.
