Cybercriminals to be denied gold medals in London Olympics

The London Olympics had learned lessons from Beijing in how to handle cyber security, the games’ CIO said Monday at the unveiling of the games’ technology center.

Gerry Pennell confidently predicted that even if police shut down the mobile network in response to a major attack, the games would still be able to carry on.

“We would continue to operate largely using our radio network and our fixed phone system.” He also said that although the main tech hub was in London’s Canary Wharf, there was a second center operating at an undisclosed location.
