The top 10 ZIP codes for Democratic donors include a narrow set of four D.C. locations, two New York neighborhoods and two L.A. locations.

Top GOP donors, however, congregate in three D.C. codes and seven diverse locations, including Palm Beach, Dallas and St. Louis, according to donation data processed via MyCityWay, an urban mapping app for cellphones.

The app produced the numbers by combining population data from the U.S. Census Bureau with donor and donation data released Aug. 23 by the D.C.-based Center for Responsive Politics.

The Democrats’ provincial sources illustrate the party’s reliance on donors from a few sectors — government, finance and commercial culture.

In contrast, the GOP’s funding comes from a wider set of donors and sectors, giving their ZIP codes a broader geographic distribution.

The two parties’ top 10 lists, however, share five ZIP codes, including 20004, which straddles Pennsylvania Ave. from the Capitol to the White House.

That ZIP code has a low population, but a high percentage of political operatives and donors, giving it the number one-ranked spot in both parties’ zip code lists. (RELATED: Obama hosts more events than Bush, raises less money)

The ZIP code delivered $329.93 per inhabitant to the Democratic Party and $324.86 per person to the GOP.

ZIP code 20036 in D.C. has a similar density of political advocates to civilians, ensuring it won the No. 3 spot on the Democrats’ list and the No. 4 slot on the GOP list. It delivered $143.38 per head to the Democrats, but only $98.79 per head to the Republicans.

ZIP code 90067 was No. 2 on the GOP and Democratic lists. That’s a very wealthy spot of L.A.‘s Riverside neighborhood, and is marked by the intersection of Beverly Hills, the L.A. Country Club and the Century City skyscrapers. The houses are large, the grounds are vast, and much of the daytime population are domestic staff who live in more humble ZIP codes. This code, 90067, provided the Democrats with $175.45 per head, and the Republicans with $142.37 per head.

Nearby 90210, or Beverly Hills — which was made famous by a 1990s TV-soap for pre-iPod teens — provided the Democrats with $47.26 for every overnight inhabitant. The district did not feature on the GOP’s top-10 list.

ZIP code 10022, New York’s Sutton Place, squeaked is at No. 10 on the GOP and Democratic lists, delivering a mere $33.21 per Republican well-coiffed head, and $36.75 for each artfully disheveled Democratic noggin.

Alongside the Democrats’ eight enclaves in D.C., L.A., and New York, their top 10 list includes fifth-ranking 02493 in Weston, Mass., whose inhabitants provided $49.09 per head. Seventh-ranking Greenwich, Conn., ZIP code 06831, only a helicopter ride away from Wall Street, gave $43.08 per head, according to the app.

The top 10 GOP neighborhoods include the two D.C. districts, Riverside, Greenwich and Sutton Place, plus Palm Beach ($103.52), St. Louis ($69.98), Houston ($44.14), McLean, Va., ($38.20) and Dallas ($34.14).

The GOP’s top 10 ZIPs provided an average of $92.69 per generous head. The Democrats’s codes averaged $95.81 per head.
