Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s campaign says its overnight viral sensation is no joke.

The quirky YouTube video showing chief of staff Mark Block taking a drag on a cigarette while asking supporters to “get involved” in the campaign is for real.

“It was meant to tell supporters about the campaign,” campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon told The Daily Caller in an email.

Among the unique features of the video are Block’s smoking and Cain’s smile.

“It was a video with an edge — as the Chief of Staff says, just Block being Block,” Gordon told TheDC.

He made it clear that the Cain campaign is clearly enjoying the attention.

“I’ve heard overwhelmingly positive feedback on the video; most people think it’s hysterical,” Gordon said.

TheDC recently profiled Block — the man who talked Herman Cain into running for president — and the strategy he has plotted for Cain’s campaign.
