In an effort to push Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to allow votes on the “Forgotten 15” bills that passed the GOP-controlled House, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison said Republicans are in favor of “revenue increases” through private sector job creation. Hutchison added that Reid is “fundamentally wrong” to suggest that there is not a jobs crisis in the private sector.

“It’s very clear that private sector jobs have been doing just fine; it’s the public sector jobs where we’ve lost huge numbers,” Reid said on the Senate floor on October 19.
“The majority leader says we don’t have a crisis in the private sector — in the private sector, it’s the public sector that’s suffering, that is so fundamentally wrong that we’re saying if you want to fix the economy it’s jobs in the private sector that are enduring,” Hutchison said at the Capitol on Thursday.
“It’s what creates momentum to increase revenue and that it’s a fundamentally different approach, so we are for revenue increases by building the private sector and job creation.”
Senator John Thune of South Dakota said the president has been sending the wrong message when “campaigning” on his bus tour.
“He’s talking about taking on people who have wealth in this country trying to create this division,” Thune said at the press conference on Thursday.
“I think the rhetoric he’s using is very divisive, he’s trying to create divisions among Americans and to me that’s counterproductive.”
