Republican presidential candidate Texas Gov. Rick Perry has attempted to harness the star power of big name conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin for a new radio ad that his campaign has begun airing in Iowa and New Hampshire.

“Respected conservative leaders acknowledge Gov. Perry’s economic plan as a positive step in the effort to get our nation back on the path to prosperity,” said Perry’s campaign communications director, Ray Sullivan. “This radio ad underscores Gov. Perry’s bold proposals and unwavering conservative leadership, which position him as the only candidate in this race with the experience and vision that will revitalize our economy and get Americans working again.”

The ad cites Limbaugh, Levin, the Club for Growth and the Wall Street Journal, none of which have endorsed a candidate yet.

“Conservative voices agree: Rick Perry’s tax plan is a bold step in the right direction,” the radio announcer says. “Rush Limbaugh calls it ‘fabulous’ and ‘a return to fiscal sanity.’ Mark Levin says Rick Perry ‘has come up with one hell of a proposal.’ The Club for Growth adds, ‘Rick Perry’s plan for tax reform would be massively pro-growth. Conservatives looking for a champion will surely rally behind this bold proposal.’ The Wall Street Journal says that Rick Perry is ‘thinking big.’

Perry’s voice then comes in.

“I’m Rick Perry. Washington’s establishment doesn’t get it. We’re not going to fix things by tinkering around the edges,” he says. “We need a complete overhaul of our tax system and government if we’re going to create jobs. My optional 20 percent flat tax is so simple you can file it on a postcard. My plan balances the budget and makes the IRS irrelevant in your life.”

Perry is down in the polls in both Iowa and New Hampshire.
