Auditioning for open Dreidl position! Headline in Politico: “CBO figures throw cold water on cuts-only approach.” **  Is that what the story says? No. It says:
 
Even if spending were frozen in place, the nation’s debt keeps piling up, absent more structural benefit reforms and tax revenue. [E.A.]
 
What’s another word for a “structural benefit reform”? Oh, right, a cut. There’s no evidence in CBO’s Rogers’ piece that this sort of cut isn’t an “approach” that will do the trick. And they say Politico often parrots Dem spin. … 
 
P.S.: Rogers’ buried second lede, which should probably have been his first, is that the cuts insisted on by those intransigent Republicans have already had a small salutary budget effect: “government spending flat-lined in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 — leading to a modest dip in the deficit.” …

** — Headline for the printer-ready version is “Cuts-only approach at odds with data,” which is just as bad. Do Democrats who infiltrate the MSM seek out the headline-writing jobs first? Cunning of them. (When did you last see a misleading headline that moved a story to the right?)  …
