The Boston Globe reports,

Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies, the political committee headed by Republican strategist Karl Rove, released a new television commercial this morning targeting Elizabeth Warren, the first major advertising salvo against the Democratic Senate candidate.

The $596,000 advertising buy stresses Warren’s support for the Occupy Wall Street movement. “Fourteen million Americans out of work, but instead of focusing on jobs, Elizabeth Warren sides with extreme left wing protests,” the narrator says as an image of Warren, is superimposed against protesters, flashes.

This will be a fascinating race to watch. Incumbent Sen. Scott Brown has played his cards well in Massachusetts, but Elizabeth Warren is a darling of the American Left and will receive much support from progressives across the nation.

$596,000 isn’t a huge buy in the Boston media market; it’s 1,000 gross media points. Generally speaking, this is enough to move a single message.

Obviously, Massachusetts is a deep blue state, presumably sympathetic to the Occupy movement. One wonders if a TV ad run by a group connected to Karl Rove will help or hurt Elizabeth Warren.
