Justin Timberlake’s life was changed this weekend. As promised, he attended the Instructor Battalion Marine Corps Ball in Virginia with Marine Corporal Kelsey de Santis.

The blonde marine made headlines earlier this year when she invited Timberlake to the event through a YouTube video, following the lead of fellow Marine Sgt. Scott Moore, who similarly asked Mila Kunis.

Timberlake was humbled by the event, writing in his blog, the formal event “changed my life.”

“I glanced around the room at young men and women, spouses and soldiers.” He wrote, “I felt so proud to be there. I felt like I was getting a chance to be among my heroes. … To all of you that serve every day for us, ensuring our freedom, I say: my deepest gratitude to you.”

The pop superstar also seemed impressed with his date. “She seemed to me to be so humble and honest … ‘Are you ok?’ she asked 2 or 3 times.”

“I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget … Something I could tell my friends about. What I didn’t know was how moved I would be by the whole experience.”

The ball took place Veterans’ Day weekend, as the country honored past and present members of the military.

“I’ve always been very vocal about my support of our Armed Forces. To say I was stoked to be there would be more than accurate.”
