With just over a month before the Iowa caucuses, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said GOP candidates’ gloves will soon come off. On Wednesday’s “The Laura Ingraham Show” the former Republican presidential hopeful and Fox News weekend host said “there’s going to be blood on the floor” soon.
“From this point forward and especially as we get closer to the Iowa caucuses and the primaries in the New Hampshire and South Carolina,” Huckabee warned, “the knives get sharpened, they come out of the drawers and they start getting used, and there’s going to be blood on the floor. That’s just the way this happens.”
“You can say, ‘Oh this is terrible,’” he added. “It may be terrible, but it’s inevitable because these guys are literally fighting for their lives politically.”

Huckabee did say he would support whoever turns out to win the GOP nomination, even if it’s former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
“I’m going to support the Republican nominee,” Huckabee said. “Everybody knows that Romney and I are not exactly best buddies. We don’t go socializing. We had our moments in the campaign four years ago, but I don’t hold any bitterness. You can’t do that in politics. You’ve got to move on and get beyond it.”
“If Mitt Romney is the nominee,” he continued, “I will vigorously support him because every day of the week and twice on Sunday, Mitt Romney is going to be a better president for national security, a better president for the economy and a better president even for issues I care about, like the sanctity of life, than Barack Obama has been, who has been a four-year disaster for this country and for the world.”
Huckabee said the presidential race hinged on making the most of one’s political assets — and on timing.
“You know, I used to say Laura, politics is a lot like a Wonderbra,” Huckabee said. “You take what you have, and you try to arrange it in such a way that at the moment at which it means the most it pushes you up over the top.”
