On Thursday The Daily Caller spoke to Michigan Democratic Rep. John Conyers, Jr., the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, about Attorney General Eric Holder’s role in Operation Fast and Furious.

Holder testified Thursday before the Judiciary Committee about Fast and Furious, the program that facilitated the sale of thousands of guns to Mexican drug cartels. (RELATED: Full coverage of Operation Fast and Furious)

Conyers called Fast and Furious “outrageous,” but said he doesn’t believe Holder should resign. Currently, 55 congressmen are demanding Holder’s resignation — all are Republicans.

“Of course not,” Conyers told TheDC. “You can’t resign because one part of a big department like the Department of Justice wasn’t functioning right.”

Asked who should be held accountable for the program, which resulted in the deaths of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and at least 300 Mexicans, Conyers said, “whoever was responsible for it.”

Pressed on who that may be, he said, “That’s what we’re holding the hearing about, I haven’t the vaguest idea.”
