[AUDIO] In lieu of prison, Jack Abramoff offered to fight in Iraq

Matt K. Lewis | Senior Contributor

I interviewed Jack Abramoff today about his new book, Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth About Washington Corruption From America’s Most Notorious Lobbyist.

Here’s one interesting thing I learned: In lieu of prison, Abramoff told me that he “tried to offer to frankly go to Iraq and to enlist and fight.”

“I thought that would…at least make me useful,” he said, “at least make me do something good for the country.”

You can listen to the audio here. (The podcast of our full interview should be out in a day, or so.)
