The Republican presidential candidate who won Iowa in 2008 is predicting that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will be victorious in the Iowa caucuses next week.

“I would probably say that Mitt Romney will end up winning it today,” former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said this weekend on “Fox News Sunday.”

Republicans will caucus Jan. 3. Huckabee admitted on Fox News that there are factors that could alter the results, including the weather.

“If the weather is good, Mitt Romney is in better shape,” Huckabee said. “If the weather is bad and it’s real tough to get out, Ron Paul would win.”

Supporters of Paul, the Texas congressman, are considered by far the most passionate.

It’s generally believed that his supporters would be more willing to travel in poor weather to caucus for him.

The RealClearPolitics polling average has Paul at 24 percent, Romney at 20 percent and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 17 percent in Iowa.
