There has been a lot of back and forth between Jon Huntsman and Mitt Romney lately, and Chris Christie is having none of it. The debate is over whether Huntsman serving as Obama’s ambassador to Communist China (and writing fawning love letters to his boss) is a show of patriotism or a disqualifying factor. The Daily Caller’s Jeff Poor reports that Christie is as straightforward on this as he is with everyone else: The fact that Huntsman is running against Obama at all reflects poorly on his integrity:
“I mean, I give this guy a job, he’s over in China supposedly representing my administration when you know the whole time — at least part of the time — he’s planning to run for president.
“My issue is not that he worked for the president, but I understand why Mitt thinks it’s an issue,” Christie said. “My bigger issue is, why was he being disloyal to the president while he was working for him? That’s a bigger question.”
Over the weekend, Christie also went toe-to-toe with a couple of Occupiers. In the long tradition of the GOP, he didn’t pull any punches with the hippies, either. TheDC’s Will Rahn reports:
When a group of Occupy Wall Street protesters tried to shout him down, Christie, who is well known for confronting his critics at town hall meetings, was happy to play along.
“Christie kills jobs,” the protesters chanted.
“Oh really?” Christie shouted, much to the crowd’s delight. “Something’s going down tonight, but it’s not going to be jobs, sweetheart.”
The point here seems clear enough: When Chris Christie gives you an endorsement, it isn’t just resume decoration — he is going to ride across the New Hampshire countryside cleaving your opponents in two.
