Newt Gingrich made a plea to parents in Thursday’s CNN debate: Elect Republicans, and we’ll help your kids move out, get a job and get their own health insurance.
The former House speaker turned the tables on President Barack Obama‘s health care law, which allows children to stay on their parents’ health insurance until age 26.
“Why has President Obama allowed young people stay on their president’s health care until they are 26? Because he can’t get any jobs for them to go out and buy their own insurance,” Gingrich said to loud applause.
“I have an offer to the parents of America: elect us, and your kids will be able to move out, and your kids will be able to move out because they’ll have work,” he said.
