An aide to Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio is accused of rolling his wife up in a carpet and beating her.

The Associated Press reported Monday that staffer Michael Brennan, the regional director for southwest Florida, has been charged with domestic violence battery and has been suspended from his job with the freshman senator.

Brennan is accused of punching and kicking his spouse, Kelly Brennan, on Friday. She says she was pushed on top of a carpet in her garage and then rolled her up “as if I was dead or something.”

Through his attorney, Michelle Hill, Brennan has denied the charges.
