Fashion designer releases $1,850 chunk of gold

If you’re going to buy a chunk of gold, why not make it couture?

That’s what French fashion designer Jean Paul Gauliter is hoping you will do, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the clothier released 5,000 pieces of gold bullion with the designer’s logo and what resembles sun rays coming out of it.

The gold bars are going for $1,850. As of closing Wednesday, the market value of gold is set at $1,711 per ounce.

There’s nothing that says “I’m rich” like owning a marked-up piece of gold with a designer’s name stamped on it.

Gaultier also has several fragrances, ready-to-wear and haute couture lines.
