On his popular radio show today, Rush Limbaugh read from Jeffrey Lord’s American Spectator column, titled, “Elliott Abrams Caught Misleading on Newt.

In the piece, Lords accuses Abrams of misrepresenting Newt Gingrich’s past comments regarding President Ronald Reagan in a recent National Review column. After reading the piece, Limbaugh ultimately concluded that “Elliott Abrams was spoon-fed this stuff by the Romney people…”

Reached for comment, Gingrich communications director Joe DeSantis said: “The coordinated attack by the Romney campaign trying to paint Newt as something less than one of Reagan’s loyal lieutenants has been exposed as a fraud.”

“Elliott Abrams and National Review owe Newt Gingrich an apology, and their article should be retracted,” he added.
