Newt loses Florida’s Space Coast

Florida’s Space Coast has gone for Mitt Romney.

With over 90 percent of precincts reporting, Romney is leading Newt Gingrich 43 percent to 33 percent in Brevard County, the home of Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. (RELATED: Full coverage of the Florida primary)

Brevard County is also where Gingrich proposed to build a permanent American lunar base by 2020. The idea ultimately failed to resonate with voters.

Romney lost Brevard County to John McCain by 5 points in 2008.
