TV Ratings: Super Bowl down slightly from last year

Fast affiliate ratings are in for Sunday, giving NBC an expected victory with the Super Bowl. NBC’s telecast set a record as the third most-watched NFL broadcast of all time.  (Time adjusted ratings will be made available later today, and this information will be updated.)

Sunday’s Giants victory scored a 48.7 rating/71 share, a slight dip from last year’s Super Bowl XLV, which was televised on Fox and pitted the Green Bay Packers against the Pittsburg Steelers. That game earned a 49.7 rating, making it the highest-rating telecast with the 1987 Super Bowl XXI (Giants vs. Denver Broncos) ranking second with the same number.
