Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist told The Daily Caller on Thursday that he believes President Barack Obama‘s Harvard Law School education made the president biased against Catholics.

“He went to Harvard, I went to Harvard, I know the level of anti-Catholic animosity you run into from people at Harvard,” said Norquist. “It usually doesn’t translate into government policy, and with Obama it does.” (RELATED: Full coverage of the health reform law)

Norquist believes that the new mandate requiring health insurance plans, including those offered by religious organizations, to cover birth control will be a major issue in the 2012 presidential race.

“It’ll a big issue because those congressman and senators who voted with the president with phony assurances… how do you ever ask them again to stand for principle, when they can be lied to by a president?” said Norquist. He snidely added, “they do what the president tells them to do… they’re not individuals using their judgment or representing their voters.”

Norquist said that Obama has “basically written [Catholics] out of the country.”
