Goodbye, Attack Watch. Hello, Truth Team!

At this point, I have to assume that the Obama administration has completely given up and is now solely devoted to satirical metacommentary on Orwell.

The Hill reports:

The Obama campaign on Monday launched a new effort to rally grassroots supporters to join “Truth Teams” by fighting word-of-mouth “misinformation” about President Obama.

“The goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obama’s record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives,” the campaign wrote in a press release.

The website, housed at Obama’s campaign website, includes information listed by issue, and allows volunteers to organize by state or group…

The first “Truth Teams” will launch in 13 swing states on Monday, including Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

If this sounds oddly familiar, that’s because they tried this very same thing last September under the name Attack Watch. But the effort was abandoned within days because it was stupid and creepy and everybody made fun of it.

So now it’s not Attack Watch anymore. Now it’s Truth Team. If at first you don’t succeed, rebrand, rebrand again. This time it’ll work, and everybody who disagrees with Obama will stop it, and yay. Nobody will make fun of Truth Team the way they did Attack Watch.

Congratulations to the Truth Team. Go, Truthers!

P.S. And don’t forget this previous campaign to encourage you to inform on your fellow citizens for questioning Obama:
