Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar of the hit TLC reality television series “19 Kids and Counting” told The Daily Caller why they are supporting former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum for president.

“Most definitely Rick Santorum has a proven track record for family values and definitely for life,” Mrs. Duggar told TheDC at CPAC. “We feel like he has consistently stood for life.”

“He authored the bill to ban partial birth abortion, whereas Romney in Massachusetts with Romneycare, there actually is allowable in the state — still today — $50 abortions for any pregnant woman and that was under the care plan that he had set forth in Massachusetts.”

She said Santorum differs from former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney because Santorum has stood for life since “the beginning.”

Mr. Duggar said Santorum is “somebody who knows the struggles of raising children in today’s world and he’s somebody who will stand for the values that we believe in. And we say he’s got a backbone of steel and a heart of gold.”

He criticized Romney for “trying to run to the right of Rick Santorum” which he doesn’t “believe.”

Mr. Duggar also predicted that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will “fizzle out” in the next two or three state primary elections.
