DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After bumper-to-bumper traffic returned Saturday to the high banks of Daytona International Speedway, Sunday was Roush hour at the 2.5-mile speedway.

Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle swept the top two spots in Daytona 500 qualifying for Roush Fenway Racing, which proved its Fords hadn’t lost their edge after narrowly missing last year’s Sprint Cup championship and since weathering a downsizing from four to three cars.

“It seems like every media question is, ‘How great would it have been to have one more point and how did you deal with that this offseason?’ ” said Edwards, who lost the 2011 title to Tony Stewart on a tiebreaker. “This is nice to come here and show everyone that it isn’t just talk. Everybody at Roush Fenway kept their heads down and dug for the best race cars we’ve had for a long time.”
