Following in M.I.A’s footsteps, Adele shot the middle finger at the Brit Awards Tuesday night.

The British singer was given the best album award and was making her acceptance speech when the host, James Corden, cut her off to introduce the band that was playing next.

“I flung the middle finger. That was for the suits at the Brit Awards, not my fans,” she told the BBC, “I’m sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.”

The star was about to thank her British fans but was cut off, so backstage she said, “Thank you very much for all your support. It’s amazing.”

The station that was airing the event, ITV, apologized to Adele later on, saying that because the show was live and it was running over, they had to cut her short.
