Guy who called for armed revolt against Wall Street responds?

Font Size:

Yesterday I passed along a letter to the editor from a recent edition of USA Today, written by somebody named Rich Latta in Austin, TX. In it, Latta explained that the Occupy movement is really awesome, and warned that if you continue to disagree, maybe the Occupiers would “take up their Second Amendment-sanctioned guns and storm Wall Street and our nation’s capitals.”

In the comments to yesterday’s post, Latta himself was kind enough to respond. Or maybe it’s somebody impersonating Latta. (Although in the words of Sean Connery in The Untouchables: Who would claim to be that who was not?) Either way, it’s a cogent rebuttal:

So Latta, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, is a Constitutional scholar as well.

Remember: Crosshairs on a map is a death threat. But musing about taking up arms and storming Wall Street is… y’know… Why do you hate free speech, you crazy wingnut?

P.S. And if you don’t think these sorts of threats can have consequences: Gothamist commenter arrested for threatening NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.
