Rowling, who has campaigned to keep her children out of the media glare, gives evidence about media intrusion during a media ethics inquiry in London, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. The inquiry, led by Judge Brian Leveson, plans to issue a report next year and could recommend major changes to media regulation in Britain. J.K. Rowling to release first non-magical book

Queen of the wizarding world J.K. Rowling has signed a deal with Little, Brown and Company to write another book, the Associated Press reported on Thursday.

Little, Brown and Co. did not release the title and plot of the book, but did say that the new book will be written for adults. Rowling’s website did not have any further information about the project.

“My next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series,” Rowling wrote in a press release.

“The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me,” Rowling said. “With that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher.”

The last book of the mega-hit Harry Potter series was released in 2007. Her books since then have also been Harry Potter themed. This will be her first book that deviates from the wizarding world she created in 1998 with the release of the first Harry Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in the United States.
