On Saturday’s “America’s Election HQ” on the Fox News Channel, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin suggested that the eventual GOP nominee take a serious look at Florida Republican Rep. Allen West, a former lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, when picking a running mate.

“You know ,who I would like to see considered for the VP slot is Col. Allen West,” Palin said to FNC host Uma Pemmaraju. “In this very tumultuous time across our world, [we need] someone who has served in our military, or at least has intimate knowledge of the way the military works and should work perhaps by having a close family member serve, someone like that. And Col. Allen West went to the school of hard knocks. He should be considered seriously for the VP.”

Pemmaraju asked Palin if she was ruling herself out of consideration, but Palin denied that was the case.

“It is not a no,” she replied. “What I am saying is if I were in a GOP presidential candidates’ shoes, I would first look to Col. Allen West.”
