Victor Cruz, wide receiver for the New York Giants, said that with his annual $450,000 and the extra $400,000 he’s picking up for his memoir, he will buy his mother a new place to live, the New York Post reports.

His mother, Biana Cruz, is a customer-service representative at Benjamin Moore who currently resides in the Fourth Ward of Patterson, N.J. Cruz said that she has always pushed him to work for his dreams.

After turning down “Dancing With the Stars” and accepting an invitation from Anna Wintour to the Met Ball, a gala that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museums in New York City, the football star said, “It’s time that I buy her a house.”

While Cruz wasn’t familiar with the gala, his girlfriend Elaina Watley is excited to attend and even hopes Tom Ford will dress them.

Cruz told Page Six Magazine, “She almost jumped out of her skin when she got the e-mail [from Wintour], but I am excited for her.”
