10 interesting results from the Ohio exit poll

Here are 10 interesting tidbits gleaned from CNN’s Ohio exit polls:

10.) Mitt Romney won a large plurality of voters who are 65 and older, besting Rick Santorum in that demographic by 16 percentage points.

9.) Santorum won a plurality — 37 percent — of young people aged 17-29. Ron Paul came in third place in that demographic with 25 percent.

8.) Romney won a large plurality of Ohioans earning more than $100,000 per year, while Santorum won a plurality of those making less.

7.) Santorum won a plurality of married women by 4 percentage points, but Romney beat Santorum among unmarried women by 17 percentage points.

6.) Romney won a plurality of those who had college degrees, while Santorum won a plurality of those who had no college degree.

5.) Santorum won a plurality of “very conservative” voters by 8 percentage points over Romney, while Romney won pluralities of “somewhat conservative” and “moderate or liberal” voters.

4.) Ron Paul fared better among “moderate or liberal” voters than among either “somewhat conservative” or “very conservative” voters. He also did better among those who oppose the tea party than he did among those who said they either “support” the tea party or are “neutral” to it. 3.) Santorum won a plurality of Ohioans who said they support the tea party. Romney won a plurality of those who said they were either neutral or opposed to it.

2.) Romney won a plurality of Catholics over Santorum by 13 percentage points, while Santorum won a plurality of Protestants over Romney by just 2 percentage point.

1.) Santorum won a plurality of Democrats by 20 percentage points and a plurality of independents by 6 percentage points. Romney won a plurality of Republicans by 4 percentage points.
