Thomas Roberts shows why MSNBC is in a distant second place

Font Size:

As we’ve all learned this week, just because you’re a liberal doesn’t mean your anger gives you license to do whatever you want. Here’s another example, although thankfully it’s much less potentially dangerous.

On Wednesday, MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts was doing a segment on marriage equality gay marriage, and this happened:

Wow. That sure was… bitchy. Thomas Roberts doesn’t like Maggie Gallagher because he wants to be able to marry another man, and she doesn’t agree with that. So it’s okay for him to behave that way on a news show he’s anchoring. She’s not worthy of even the most basic courtesy, she’s beneath his contempt, because she disagrees with him and she stood him up.

Just one minor problem. She didn’t stand him up.

From Roberts on Twitter, which is apparently now the place where our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters dump the apologies they’re not big enough to make in person:

MYSTERY solved… @maggiemarriage was in a studio ready for our #nom interview it was just the wrong studio booked improperly on @msnbc_booking IT WAS OUR MISTAKE and she has an open invite for the show. Our sincerest apologies.

Wow. An open invite? How magnanimous of him.

Just as with Spike Lee, Roberts thinks his error was getting the location of his target wrong, not that it was wrong to behave that way in the first place. But it’s okay, it was just a minor mistake, because he’s convinced he’s right.

This seems to be the week when the left is beginning to realize the limits of that attitude. In all areas. Or at least we can hope.

(Hat tip: Inside Cable News, who says: “I have watched MSNBC since the day it launched and, not mincing words or understating the situation, this is the worst display of journalistic unprofessionalism I have ever seen on its newscasts.” Guess the rest of America will have to take his word for it. Oh, and thanks for the video, Media Matters!)
