Ice cream, ice cream, we all scream for ice cream! Well, maybe not anymore, now that some middle-aged hipsters in New York have called for ice cream trucks to be banned from playgrounds, parks, and other kid-friendly places.

On a parents’ blog for the much-mocked Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, dozens of people left comments complaining about the abundance of ice cream, Italian ice, and frozen yogurt trucks.

The parents said that all the trucks cause their children to get upset when they cannot get treats.

One mother, Debbie Markovic, wrote: “Go somewhere else, go on another corner because…it does make it too tempting for them,” reported CBS News.

Markovic’s daughter is lactose-intolerant but begs for ice cream when she sees the trucks.

Others have said that the banning of ice cream trucks like Mister Softee would be extreme.

“They’re walking down the street and my kid wants everything, every toy they see. Does that mean we should ban every toy store?” one woman said.

Another parents asked if there should be celery trucks to counterbalance the number of ice cream trucks. CBS News found that there were trucks parked on nearly every park corner in the area.

The ban would require citywide legislation, but the prospect of that is unlikely. The trucks are private vendors, and owners argue that parents are not forced to buy ice cream despite their children’s reaction to the trucks.
