Lady Gaga doesn’t think before she tweets.
On Tuesday, Mother Monster tweeted to all of her 22 million followers: “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay.”
Gaga has spoken publicly about wanting young women to cultivate healthy body images by not dieting and has now seemingly turned her back on that notion.
Some of her tweet monsters were none too thrilled with the pop singer’s careless endorsement of extreme diet and exercise.
One follower said, “dear @ladygaga, you just blatantly endorsed anorexia to over 22 million followers. how do you sleep at night?”
“@ladygaga pick a side… Do you want to promote beautiful and healthy kids, or anorexia?” wrote another.
It has even caused fans to turn their backs on the singer: “unfollow @ladygaga 4 her ignorant and stupid message to her fans #popsingersdonteat wow ur a role model act like 1 dont praise anorexia wtf?”
Even the National Eating Disorders Association got in on the backlash, tweeting “Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?”
