iPhone app guesses political affiliation after scanning user’s photo

A Tennessee man has developed an iPhone application that tells users if someone is a Republican or Democrat after scanning that person’s photo.

Except the “Political Party Scanner Pro” is a joke. The app determines the party affiliation at random.

The app’s developer says it’s meant to be used to kid around with friends.

“It’s just meant to be a joke,” Jimmy Moncrief told The Daily Caller. “Something to lighten the mood with all the mud slinging during election year.”

Moncrief said he was inspired to develop “Political Party Scanner Pro” by the success of Ugly Meter, a popular app that tells users how ugly they are.

“I just thought it would be funny — as a joke to play on friends,” he said.

At this point, he said it’s only been downloaded about 100 times. It costs only ninety-nine cents to purchase.

“Most people like to post a picture the app has scanned and post it to Facebook that shows Mitt as a Democrat or President Obama as a Republican,” he said.

This isn’t the first time Moncrief has tried to make money off a political novelty gift. Moncrief last year sold a gag book gift of 200 blank pages called, “Everything Obama Knows About The Economy.”

Here’s a YouTube video showing the “Political Party Scanner Pro” app in action:
