Herman claims credit for Cain ‘Lieutenant’ Mourdock’s victory

We finally have a definitive reason for Richard Mourdock’s stunning victory over incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar.

No, the credit doesn’t belong to the powerful Club for Growth (which backed Mourdock). And Lugar’s residency problems (he didn’t actually live in the state) apparently had little to do with it. Instead, Mourdock’s backing of Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan put him over the top.

… At least, that’s the impression you get when reading Cain’s latest blast email: “By adopting my 9-9-9 plan,” Cain writes, “Richard Mourdock has shown he is committed to simple, common sense solutions to the nation’s biggest problems. I am proud the voters recognized this as well.”

Perhaps more telling is that the email is subtitled: “Cain ‘Lieutenant’ Mourdock Defeats Lugar: ‘This is just the beginning!’”

Congratulations are indeed in order for Cain Lieutenant Mourdock.
