Sony and LightSquared tapped by RIM

The Canadian smartphone maker Research In Motion has again reached out to two troubled companies to find executive talent as it prepares to introduce a new series of phones that it hopes will reverse its rapidly declining market share.

On Tuesday, Thorsten Heins, a German who became the company’s chief executive in January, appointed Frank Boulben, a former LightSquared executive who has spent much of his career in his native France, as chief marketing officer. He named Kristian Tear, a Swede who was most recently with Sony Mobile Communications, as chief operating officer.
