A call for comments

I’m a believer in the wisdom of crowds. That’s why I need your help. For the next step on this blog, I’m soliciting more of your feedback.

Email me with critiques, news tips and thoughts about what you’d like to hear. And if you disagree with me, let me know, and there isn’t a limit on your words. I’ll be happy to address many of the critiques on my blog. (Just be sure to let me know if you want to be cited in the post or left anonymous — I’m happy to do either.)

This, of course is not a new idea. As Andrew Sullivan has written,

If I were to do an inventory of the material that appears on my blog, I’d estimate that a good third of it is reader-generated, and a good third of my time is spent absorbing readers’ views, comments, and tips. Readers tell me of breaking stories, new perspectives, and counterarguments to prevailing assumptions. And this is what blogging, in turn, does to reporting. The traditional method involves a journalist searching for key sources, nurturing them, and sequestering them from his rivals. A blogger splashes gamely into a subject and dares the sources to come to him.

As you can imagine, this will take time. The good news is I now have an intern helping me pick out thoughtful comments on the blog. If you post something that is well reasoned and worthy of being answered, it will be. (Oh yeah, let me know if you ever see a spelling/grammar error, too.)

So here’s how you can contact me: I’ve set up this email specifically for your input: comments(DOT)mattlewis(DOT)dailycaller(AT)gmail(DOT)com
