If you are a fan of HBO’s wildly popular “Lord of the Rings”-with-orgies fantasy series, “Game of Thrones,” you know that a lot of characters are prone to having their heads chopped off and used as decorative lawn gnomes in the fictional domain King’s Landing.

Apparently, it’s not as easy to find decapitated heads as one might think in the movie biz — and so one of the heads on a spike belongs to former President George W. Bush, i09 points out

In a particularly brutal and shocking moment during the penultimate episode of the first season, a row of decapitated heads is featured as the bratty King Joffrey forces his fiancee to gaze upon the head of her dead father.

The show’s creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explain thusly in the DVD commentary:  “The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around.”

Upon further examination, the head is in fact the decapitated profile of our nation’s 43rd president. Only in the world of “Game of Thrones” do people simply have heads of living presidents “around.”
