Joy Behar, one of the hosts on ABC’s “The View,” says Mitt Romney’s criticism of President Barack Obama’s pull for more firefighters and policemen is an “idiot statement.”

“I mean, I’d like to see his house burn, one of his million houses burning down, who is he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?” Behar told Mediate this week.

Romney said Obama wants to hire more government works, and “it’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”

Current TV announced Monday that Behar will begin hosting a show on the network later this year. Behar previously hosted a program on HLN, but left following disputes on what she could cover.

Behar is critical of Romney’s social and economic policies, but says she would enjoy having him on her show. Behar says she doubt the former governor would agree, but she would “ask him about all the flip-flopping he’s been doing.”

Behar said polticians are the reason she has a show, because Romney’s “statements are so ridiculous and they sound so stupid to the average American person.”
