Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing after 5 years of marriage, People reports.
The action star and “Dawson’s Creek” actress married in 2006 at an Italian castle, after making waves with their whirlwind courtship and Cruise’s infamous couch-jumping on “Oprah.” Many media outlets speculated about the legitimacy of their relationship, as well as Cruise’s Scientology views.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” says Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
The couple’s daughter is Suri, age six, and Cruise also has two teenage children from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman. The marriage was the third for Cruise and the first for Holmes.
