Adam “Pacman” Jones, the Cincinnati Bengals cornerback often known more for his off-the-field troubles rather than his athletic prowess, told NFL rookies at the 2012 Rookie Symposium that he once spent close to $1 million over a period of two days, Yahoo Sports reports.

Jones was the first round pick for the Tennessee Titans in the 2005 draft, but soon made a name for himself as a bad boy with an attitude problem. Jones’ most infamous moment came in 2007 when he was involved in a nightclub shooting that landed two men in the hospital and left one of them paralyzed from the waist down. Just last month, Jones was ordered by a Las Vegas court to shell out $11.6 million in damages to the shooting victims.

Jones was joined on the panel by another fallen football star, former Pro Bowl receiver Terrell Owens. Owens, once the most prolific receiver in the NFL during his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, was recently released from an indoor league team in which he actually had partial ownership.

Both Owens and Jones told rookies about the importance of managing money smartly, as well as surrounding oneself with good influences. Jones credited NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as a positive force in his career and said the commissioner helped him to turn his life around.
