A home video recently posted to Facebook showing a mother encouraging two young children to physically brawl has gained the attention of national and local media, as well as a possible investigation by the Missouri Department of Social Services.
The video, posted to Facebook on Sunday and highlighted by St. Louis’ FOX 2, shows a mother instructing two small children to hit and punch at each other.
“Fight back! Got some action! Got some action!” the unidentified woman yells at the kids as both cry and scream. “Y’all better ball up some fists! Hit back! Y’all better hit back!”
An acquaintance of the mother brought the video to the media’s attention.
“Ball up your fist. It’s like she’s training her before she starts school or something,” the acquaintance told FOX 2. “It’s sad because today’s society in the black community it’s really sickening that these kids are learning how to fight, get guns and stuff, and it shouldn’t be going on.”
The Missouri D.S.S. would not confirm or deny an investigation into the matter, but urged the public to always report concerning situations.
“State law prohibits release of information specific to a case or individual, so we could not confirm nor deny involvement in the case,” Missouri D.S.S. spokesperson Rebecca Woelfel explained.
