Only Academy Award nominated actor and Royal Shakespeare Theatre alumnus Gary Oldman could truly bring a conversation between R. Kelly and the Tupac to life in what some critics are calling the best performance of his career.
During a segment on Wednesday night’s “Jimmy Kimmell Live,” the “Dark Knight Rises” actor gave a dramatic reading from R. Kelly’s brilliantly titled autobiography, “Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me.”
Oldman read from a chapter in which the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer and the legendary rapper have a conversation about making a “game changing” album together.
Oldman, known for his chameleon-like performances, perfectly captured Kelly’s eloquent speech while simultaneously bringing “Pac” back from the dead — as Kimmell puts it, “even more than the hologram.”
