This has been a busy weeks for 90’s bands making a comeback. Both No Doubt and Green Day released new singles and announced the release of new albums within the next six months.

Nineties boy banders also made a big announcement: Backstreet Boys went on “Good Morning America” to say that they will be doing a reunion concert on the show August 31 in Central Park. This is the first time that all five members of the band will perform together since Kevin Richardson’s departure from the group in 2006.

The band is currently living together in London and working on their new album which is set for release in next spring — just in time for their 20th anniversary in April 2013.

Richardson talked to MTV News earlier this month about the new record. “We all discussed, we want this to be a personal record. We want it to be authentic to us and who we are and where we’re at in our lives,” he said. “We want to talk about things that are relevant in our life and want to be authentic and make a great record that we’re proud of, and that’s kind of where we’re starting.”

The fan response to the news has been ecstatic. Fans expressed their excitement for the return of the 90’s icons on Twitter with the hashtag #BSBGMA.
