Days after the Aurora, Colo., shooting during a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” that killed 12 people and injured 58, one audience member plans to sue three parties he alleges should take responsiblity for the rampage.
Torrence Brown Jr., whose friend A.J. Boik was killed during the massacre, did not personally suffer any physical injuries, but plans to sue the movie theater, Warner Bros. and the alleged shooter James Holmes’ doctors for the “extreme trauma” he suffered.
According to TMZ, Brown will sue Aurora’s Century 16 theater for negligence by not equipping the emergency exits with alarms or security guards. He will also sue Holmes’ doctors for failing to properly supervise him as he was reportedly on medication for an as-yet undisclosed illness during the rampage.
Warner Bros., the studio that produced “The Dark Knight Rises,” will also be named in the lawsuit because Brown claims that the film is too violent and that audience members thought, at first, that Holmes was part of the production.
“Somebody has to be responsible for the rampant violence that is shown today,” Brown told TMZ.
