Man assaults girlfriend after seeing Romney photo on her Facebook page

Lowell Turpin of Claxton, Tenn., suspected that his girlfriend was planning to cheat on him. His fears were confirmed — or so he thought — when he looked at her Facebook page and saw a photo of another man.

He didn’t believe her even after she told him that the photo was not that of a lover, but of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

In his jealous rage, Turpin allegedly “jerked her laptop computer from her grasp, smashed the machine into a wall, and then hit her in the face with his fist,” Knox News reports.

The woman told police that┬áTurpin “has been violent toward her multiple times over several years,” according to Knox News.

Turpin was taken to Anderson County Jail on July 22 — the day of the incident — where he has remained in custody on charges of domestic violence.
