And now, some deep thoughts about Chick-fil-A

Font Size:

You wingnuts had fun the other day with your Chick-fil-A “buycott” — oh wow, you stood in line for fast food, how unusual — but not everybody thinks your bigoted little chicken sandwiches are so great. Just watch what this brave young womyn did, if you think you can handle it.

WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE AND SCARY IDEAS THAT MIGHT JUST BLOW YOUR TINY WINGNUT MIND

Are you shocked? Are you outraged? Hey, if you don’t like it, Christians, maybe you shouldn’t be so angry. Maybe you shouldn’t spew so much hate.

By, um… eating chicken sandwiches.

Speaking of well-planned Chick-fil-A protests in Arizona, whatever happened to that one dude who did that one thing? Neil Munro reports:

The person who taped himself harassing a Chick-fil-A employee on Aug. 1 has been fired by his employer.

“Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A,” reads a Aug. 2 company statement.

“Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company,” the release from Vante, a biotech company based in Tucson, Ariz., continues.

So what they’re saying is that in their opinion, this was a bad idea and reflected poorly on their company:

They didn’t like that? Weird.

Well, I’ve never called for the guy to be fired, and I didn’t allow anybody to post his personal information in the comments. But I’m not really broken up about it, either. This was an entirely self-made problem for Mr. Smith. At any point in the process, all the way to clicking the upload button on YouTube, he could’ve said, “Y’know, maybe this isn’t such a good idea.” But he didn’t, and the whole world got to see what he went out of his way to do, and now he’s experiencing the fallout.

Adam Smith has the right to say what he wants to say and be carelessly cruel to pleasant, hard-working lower-level employees of companies he doesn’t like, regardless of whether they have any control over the issues he’s angry about. And his own employers have the right to respond to his behavior as they see fit. He wasn’t fired for expressing his opinion, but for being a bully to a very nice lady and then proudly showing off what he’d done.

As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states: Don’t start none, won’t be none.

P.S. More leftist projection: Chick-fil-A ‘kiss’ day marred by ‘Tastes like hate’ graffiti. Marred, or punctuated?
